The two pilots spoke on the radio and it was decided Tango would carry on as he had been doing and Rex would start to search the deepest valleys where the sun’s rays would not reach and Tango could not see. This kind of flying was strictly for helicopters. Tango was glad Rex was there as he would not like to be down so low next to the big cliffs and rocks, no thank you!

Just as Tango started to think that he was going to have to go home for more fuel and to warm up for a bit Rex called him.

“Tango, Tango come in,” called Rex.

“Go ahead Rex,” said Tango.

“I think I’ve found him Tango, please can you come over here to watch my tail as I go into the valley to have another look,” said Rex.

“On my way Rex, I am just behind you,” called Tango, flying over as quickly as he could. Tango watched carefully as Rex slowly went down into the steep sided mountain valley and began to hover ever so close to the rocks.

“Yup, it looks like someone is down there,” called Rex, but Tango still couldn’t see anything.

“I can’t see anyone Rex, where are you looking?” called Tango.

“Look just up in front of me in the shade. There is a tent and we saw someone stick their head out and wave just now,” called back Rex.

Staring into the dark, narrow valley below, Tango could just make out a green tent setup in the mountain’s shadow. Gosh I have no idea how Rex saw that, thought Tango. “Okay I see it now,” called back Tango.

“Right, the Mountain Search and Rescue guys are going to go down and fetch him,” radioed back Rex.
